A 71-mile drive took us to Kilkenny Castle, a Victorian era remodel of a 13th century defensive castle. The castle was the seat of power for the Butlers of Ormande for more than 600 years. We took advantage of a very educational tour from an elfin docent with an inscrutable accent, marveling at the size of the great hall.
A snack at the Left Bank tided us over until our return to Inch House to enjoy each other’s company and a splendid catered meal to celebrate our last night at Inch.
